Nameplates: Metal signs
Metal signs will last longest among all signs. There are different types of metal signs, like:
- Color bond signs
- Sign white
- Aluminum signs
- Aluminum composite signs- differs from aluminum signs
- Galvanized metal signs
Most commonly used metal signs are made from Color bond or a slightly thinner scale of Color bond named sign white. Sign white signs begin with a white background and print and have either vinyl cut or digital printing. They are perfect for very hot environments as they can tolerate extreme temperatures even ‘blade runners’.
Aluminum composite signs for having durability and light weight are becoming more popular. Aluminum composite signs are made by inserting a thick piece of polypropylene plastic between two sheets of aluminum. The standard sheet size is larger than sign white which means requires less joins, and it sets flatter than sign white. But it does expand and contract with more and less heat, so it is better to be used in mild climates.
Aluminum signs are nothing but just a thick aluminum sheet. These are usually decorated or painted. Due to their oily nature, as vinyl doesn’t stick to them well.
Galvanized metal signs are a sheet of zincalume which has been painted. These lasts for a very long time but, these are not so budget friendly.
For most objectives and purposes, sign white or aluminum composite signs will fulfill.
